'Mercyscape' - The Invitation
'Mercyscape' - The Invitation
‘The Invitation’ is inspired by the feeling you get on that perfect summer day to just jump in the water and play! This colorful ‘mercyscape’ , with its warm yellows, fresh turquoises and blues is an invitation to drop your current ‘to-do’s’ and say yes to fun!
The 'mercyscape' series is special to me and I love sharing the story of how it came to be. If you've ever spent time on a lake, you know how beautiful and peaceful mornings can be. This morning, like many other mornings, I was sitting on our dock, overlooking the water, soaking up the stillness. As I was taking in my surroundings, the clouds parted, the sun streamed through, and light began to dance on the water. At the time, I had been reflecting on the meaning of the word "mercy". Receiving the gift of mercy can have such a powerful and transforming impact on our lives. As an artist I naturally longed to visually capture it. In that moment, I was struck by the thought that mercy is like light. It's all around us. It covers us and gives us hope. Without it, life would be very dark. From that moment of inspiration, I began to study light; its patterns, its colors, changes in seasons and at different points of the day. The ‘mercyscape’ series came to life!
