COMMISSIONS

A commission is a unique process where you, the collector, are engaged in an immersive experience, becoming part of the creative process that culminates in a one-of-a-kind piece of art, perfect for that space that you’ve been dreaming about. Your ideas, dreams and desires for the work are infused into the vision and inspiration for the painting. This opportunity incorporates one-on-one, artist-facilitated collaboration and direct communication throughout the process. 

Early on, Rachelle works with the collector to establish a catalyst element for the commission which generally comes from her portfolio of previous works but can also come from shared images. Rachelle then makes recommendations for the space, taking into consideration sizing, color, and subject. Photoshop is routinely used to virtually stage ideas for collectors.  

Pricing and Sizing

Commission sizes are customizable to accommodate your space, design, and vision. The table here lists some of our most popular sizes, but commissions can be smaller or larger.

COMMISSION FAQ

WHAT IS A COMMISSION?

A commission is a custom work of art created specifically for the client.

 WHAT SUBJECTS CAN BE COMMISSIONED?

Kearns only accepts commissions based on her current bodies of work; the ‘bloom’, ‘mercyscape’, ‘light’, ‘breakthrough’ and ‘bubbly’ series. The commission can be inspired by an existing painting, a client’s photograph or a paint chip.

ARE COMMISSIONS FRAMED?

Commission prices do not include framing. Framing is optional, but will come at an additional cost. Collectors receive the artwork carefully rolled and packaged in a tube. Once received, the collector is responsible to have the canvas stretched and framed.

WHAT IS THE PRICE FOR A CUSTOM COMMISSION?

Prices are around $3.00 per square inch.

HOW MUCH WILL SHIPPING/DELIVERY COST?

For shipping within the continental United States, shipping is included. Rachelle Kearns Fine Art ships internationally. International shipping costs vary depending on the size of the painting. For shipments outside the continental United States, please contact us directly for a quote.

IS THERE A DEPOSIT?

There is a 50% refundable deposit. The deposit is refundable at any point of the commission process, and can either be canceled by Kearns or the client. The remaining half shall be paid upon completion and approval of the painting. Rachelle Kearns will send an invoice electronically, which can be paid with a credit card, check, and/or cash.

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE?

After the 50% deposit is received, the client is added to the commission wait list. Kearns works on commissions in the order they are received.
