'bubbly' - bubble #9

from $60.00

It was 2006 and I had just married my forever love. My whole world had shifted. We were newlyweds; everything felt shiny and new. The 'bubbly' series was born at this time as an expression of the state of my heart; we were figuratively in a bubble! It was fun while it lasted and I'm delighted that I have paintings such as this one that bring me right back to that feeling. The 'bubbly' series was ephemeral; celebratory and fun. In the process of painting this piece, I fell in love with the abstract background against a crystal clear bubble. I hadn't yet discovered the 'mercyscape' series, but there was something about the play of light and water that enamored me... I painted this on the floor, in the second bedroom of our first apartment. It makes me laugh when i remember that I disliked having to 'name' paintings and so I used the number system. And as of today, Stephen & I have been married for 18 years. Saying 'I do' to him was one of the best decisions of my life.
